Although Leadpages doesn’t have a native form builder, you can still pass hidden attribution data by connecting it with your email marketing tool (such as Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, or ConvertKit). Here’s how to set it up step by step.
Step 1: Create Custom Fields in Your Email Service Provider
First, log in to your email marketing platform and set up the necessary custom fields. These fields will store your marketing attribution data.
These are the fields required for capturing marketing attribution information:
- Channel
- Channel Drilldown 1
- Channel Drilldown 2
- Channel Drilldown 3
- Landing Page
- Landing Page Group
If you’re using Mailchimp, ConvertKit, or ActiveCampaign, you can follow their respective guides for adding custom fields. Once configured, your field list should look something like this:

Step 2: Add the Fields to Your Leadpages Form
Now, go to your Leadpages editor and select the form you want to modify. Under the Fields tab, add the same fields you just created in your email service provider.

Step 3: Configure Each Field as Hidden
After adding the fields, click on each one to adjust its settings:
1. Check the box labeled “This is a hidden field“.

2. Enter the following default values for each field:
| Field Name | Default Value |
| Channel | [channel] |
| Channel Drilldown 1 | [channeldrilldown1] |
| Channel Drilldown 2 | [channeldrilldown2] |
| Channel Drilldown 3 | [channeldrilldown3] |
| Landing Page | [landingpage] |
| Landing Page Group | [landingpagegroup] |
Step 4: Publish or Update Your Page
Once everything is set up, click Publish (for new pages) or Update (for existing pages) in the top-right corner to apply your changes.
That’s it! Your hidden fields will now capture attribution data seamlessly.
